Meiosis Model Checklist
Please use materials you have brought from home to make a model of meiosis that shows a diploid cell with 4 replicated chromosomes going through all the stages.
| Description of Event or Grade Category | Points Possible |
Points Received |
| Interphase I: Shows centrosomes, centrioles, nucleus, nucleolus, chromatin of 2 colors (one color for mom's contribution another color for dad's contribution) | 5 |
| Prophase I: Shows centrosomes, centrioles, beginning of spindle fibers, 2 long rep. chromosomes (1 from mom & 1 from dad), 2 short rep. chromosomes (1 from mom & 1 from dad), synapses with crossing over of at least one chromosome pair (exchange of material) | 5 |
| Metaphase I: Shows tetrads lining up at equator with rep. chromosomes of at least one pair having exchanged material, polar fibers, kinetochore fibers, centrioles, & centrosomes | 5 |
| Anaphase I: Shows all material from previous 2 stages but with kinetichore fibers shortening and pulling rep. chromosomes to poles (one short one long to each pole). | 5 |
| Telophase I & Cytokinesis: Shows all material from previous stage with cytokinesis occuring | 5 |
| Prophase II: 2 cells with appropriate rep chromosomes and mitotic apparatus visible | 5 |
| Metaphase II: 2 cells with rep chromosomes lining up at the equator with the mitotic apparatus visible | 5 |
| Anaphase II: 2 cells with chromatids split into chromosomes with mitotic apparatus | 5 |
| Telophase II & Cytokinesis: 4 cells with appropriate chromosomes | 5 |
