DNA to PROTEIN STORY
Please make a cartoon story that tells and shows the processes by which DNA code is converted into amino acid sequences (protein).
Please include the following processes and the purpose for each:
- Replication of DNA
- Transcription of DNA to mRNA
- Translation of mRNA to amino acid sequences (Protein Synthesis)
Please have your story narrated by a cartoon nucleotide character. Please include the following terms in your story:
- DNA nucleotide
- RNA nucleotide
- Cell
- Nucleus
- Ribosome
- Amino Acids
- Peptide bond
- Dipeptide (2 amino acids joined with peptide bonds)
- Polypeptide (3-49 amino acids joined)
- Protein (50-3000 amino acids joined)
- Codon
- Anticodon
- mRNA
- tRNA
- DNA Helicase (enzyme that unwinds and unzips double-stranded DNA)
- DNA Polymerase (enzyme that reads DNA bases and bonds the appropriate DNA nucleotide to it during replication)
- RNA Polymerase (enzyme that reads DNA bases and bonds the appropriated mRNA nucleotide to it during transcription)
- RNA Helicase (enzyme that releases mRNA from DNA to go to the ribosomes)
Your story will be judged by
- its completeness (includes the 3 processes and all vocabulary)
- its clarity (how well it is written and descriptions are clear to the reader)
- its diagrams (drawings of cartoon characters and processes)
